We are one of the first in the country to use Bio-Diesel as an alternative fuel. Studies have proven that vehicular pollution is reduced to nearly half in using this fuel. We have effectively implemented 18% usage of Bio-Diesel in our fleet (originating from Kolkata) and are striving and making investments to achieve 24% Bio-Diesel usage across India.
The number of trucks on our roads is constantly increasing. The world is moving towards larger vehicles to carry cargo and thereby reducing the number of vehicles on the road and subsequently the pollution. We ventured into 32 ft containers 5 years back and have now evolved and introduced 40 ft containers on Indian roads, which carry 25% – 50% more cargo than conventional vehicles while causing similar or lesser pollution. It is our endeavor to expand this fleet with the latest vehicles that cause even less pollution.
We have tied up with Michelin, one of the world’s largest tyre manufacturers, for complete tire management of our fleet. With their sophisticated machinery, Michelin retreads old tyres to be as good as new. The usual lifetime of a tyre is around 70,000 KM. With Michelin, we are being able to achieve 2,00,000 KM. Maximising the usage of re-soled tyres under Michelin supervision is our conscious effort to reduce carbon print.
We are using synthetic oil lubricants manufactured by the world leader Shell, which has a 45% higher drain interval viz- a- viz the other lubricant brands available.
We have tied up with Indian Oil Limited (IOC) and have made it mandatory for our drivers to use only good quality Diesel which has to be compulsorily purchased from IOC, thereby eliminating the chances of our drivers buying and using adulterated fuel which leads to heavy pollution.
We have adopted the usage of online engine oil centrifugal systems which constantly filter the oil when the engine is running. This increases the drain interval of the engine oil by 70%. Further, the engine oil and transmission oil used are collected by us and sold to re-refiners for recycling.
